ENERGY FROM RICE ENERGY

We love and respect our environment and try not to spoil it. This is one of the company objectives.

To produce parboiled rice, to add value to traditional white rice, you need energy!

We produce energy using a rice byproduct: rice husk.

In 2001 we founded Idroblinis together with Etea. Idroblinis is a company that runs a thermoelectric generating plant which uses rice husk. A large new plant that collects and treats husk from Riso Viazzo and other rice companies in the region to obtain clean energy.

Husk is burned to obtain thermal energy through high pressure steam that is than reduced to low pressure (by a twin turbine) and used for the parboiling process.

The residue from the burning of the husk is than used as isolation material in steel plants.

The plant produces clean energy using byproducts which until recently got burned in the countryside, but which is now used in total safety respecting the Kyoto protocol on emissions of green house gasses using state of the art technology to reduce gas emissions to zero.

Our green energy plant is fuelled by 200 tons of husk per day and produces 30 thermal megawatts and 6 electric megawatts which are then sold back to the grid.

Rice that is parboiled using the rice’s own energy, a result we are quite proud of.
